Tour Home            Tour Route

This was not the tour we had originally planned but we had to change because of the travel restrictions due to Covid-19. We knew we could only camp and the tour was kept short because of the diffuculties in finding camsite which were open.

Day 1: Hannover to Dümmer See

Our goal for the day was Dümmer See. We were warmly welcomed at the campsite .

Day 2: Dümmer See to Haselünne

Plenty of room to pitch the tents with social distancing at Heinz-Richard Holt Comfort Camping which had just reopenned and was very quiet. Nice evening meal with two seperate tables at the Zur Ziegentränke in the Market Street. Haelünne is famous for the number of distileries producing "Korn". We sampled the famous HEYDT Manufaktur 1860. Heslünne is also the oldest town in the region called Emsland.

Day 3: Haselünne to Weener

Our route took us through Meppen where the iver Hase joins the Ems.  We spent some time at the sight of the Transrapid test facility which was somewaht sobering due to the terrible accident in Septemeber 2006.

Day 4: Weener to Norddeich

Weener is an atractive old port near the Dutch border with an interesting collection of historic boats. Norddeich is a spa town and popular resort on the North See coast with a very busy port. Each year around 175,000 vehicles and 2.25 million people are ferried from the harbour to the nearby islands of Juist and Norderney.
