Tour Home Tour Route
This was was our second tour during the Covid-19 pandemic. At this time the restrictions were relatively relaxed and we were able to take a longer tour involve a circuit of Germany's most northerly state, Schleswig-Holstein.
Day 1: Hannover to St. Michaelisdonn
Matze, Bill and Shari travelled from Hannover by train to meet Cord in Hamburg. We set off from there up the west coast (the North Sea coast) of Schleswig-Holstein. Most of the day's route was along the Elbe and following the North Sea Cylce Route (Nordseeküsten Radweg).
The first beer if the day was at the Fährmannsand. Lunch was fish roll at the harbour in Glückstadt.
Nice campsite Hohenkamp Camping neat St. Michaelisdonn with a friendly welcome and situated next to an airstrip used for gliders.
Day 2: St. Michaelisdonn to Husum
Breakfast at the campsite.
Nice route after St.. Michaelisdonn as the path meanders accross the meadows then we head for the coast to Meldorf Bay (Meldorfer Bucht),
Regenbogen Campsite near Husum.
Day 3: Husum to Flensburg
Bill has a damaged wheel rime and takes his bike in a taxi from Süderlügum to Flensburg, thanks to some assistance from the ADFC.
We have booked a room on the youth hostel in Flensburg but it is quite far from the centre of the city and the harbour area - see DJH.
Matze's friend Gunnar comes to collect us drives us to the centre where we find a nice place for a few beers.
Day 4: Flensburg to Eckernförde
Great campsite with a nice bistro on the coast just before Eckernförde Campingplatz Hemmelmark
Day 5: Eckernförde to Weissenhäuser Strand
On the way we stop off to visit Pat, an old friend from Benthe.
Day 6: Weissenhäuser Strand to Travemunde
After breakfast we went for a swim.
Day 7: Travemunde to Lauberg an der Elbe
Day 8: Lauberg an der Elbe to Hamburg
